A Message from Coach Rob

Hello Fairburn Families,

We've had an exciting and active start to the school year in Psychomotor/PE! During the first two weeks, our focus was on building a strong foundation for a safe and fun year ahead. Students learned about the rules and expectations for PE and Psychomotor classes, as well as proper behavior during lunch and recess playtime. We also practiced how to check out and return equipment to the PE office in a responsible manner.

Over the past two weeks, we have begun exploring the importance of taking care of our bodies. Students discussed why stretching is essential before physical activity and how a healthy diet and hydrating beverages help us stay energized—especially on hot days. We learned which foods and drinks help prevent dehydration and keep us feeling our best.

We then jumped into practicing basic psychomotor skills like:

  • Skipping
  • Two-foot bunny hops
  • Single-leg bunny hops
  • Lateral jumps
  • Frog jumps
  • Speed and agility footwork (using the agility ladder)

To make our learning fun and engaging, students played games that incorporated these skills, such as Red Light, Green Light, a fun obstacle course, and Hula Hoop Twister.

Friendly Reminders for Families:

  • Please send your student in tennis shoes and athletic wear on their scheduled PE days to help them move safely and comfortably.
  • Water bottles are encouraged, especially on hot days.
  • If your student needs to sit out from PE for a day, please send a note to Coach Rob or inform their teacher/office staff in advance.

It's been wonderful seeing our students moving, laughing, and learning together. We're off to a great start, and we're excited to keep building on these skills in the weeks ahead!
