After-School Programs
🌟 STAR EDUCATION
STAR Education is a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to offering extended educational, recreational, and enrichment programs. STAR supports and enhances school curriculum while expanding the cultural base of young people through innovative, high-quality programs led by exceptional instructors.
Since 1991, STAR has partnered with Fairburn Avenue Elementary to provide camps and after-school programs. During the school year, STAR offers two main programs: STAR Galaxy and STAR Nova.
⭐ STAR Galaxy
Schedule: Dismissal – 6:00 p.m. (daily)
STAR Galaxy offers daily, comprehensive programming designed by the Fairburn STAR staff. Students receive:

Engaging activities
Galaxy features a wide variety of disciplines, such as STEAM, art, dance, theater, sports, culinary arts, martial arts, and team building. From social development to academic achievement, STAR Galaxy provides fun-filled afternoons and lasting childhood memories.
💫 STAR Nova
Schedule: Once per week, 6–8 weeks per session (4 sessions per year)
STAR Nova offers specialized enrichment classes tailored to each student’s interests. Classes include:

Culinary arts

Nova provides an individualized experience where students can explore passions and develop new skills.

🎒 BEYOND THE BELL (FREE) – Grades 2 to 5
Beyond the Bell, a division of LAUSD, provides free after-school care for students in grades 2–5.
Parents must complete a separate registration to enroll. Students not registered will not be allowed to stay and play after school dismissal.
This is a permissive program with limited staff, so participants must follow all program rules and the directions of the coach/playground director.

💻 EXTENDED LEARNING OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (ELOP)
The Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) is a Beyond the Bell initiative from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), delivered on our campus by STAR Education. This program provides a safe, structured, and enriching after-school experience for TK–5th grade students.
